#65: How To Hear The Holy Spirit

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

Have you ever wondered, is this me? or is this God? I know I have. Here in this episode we're going to talk a out who is the Holy Spirit, what are his roles and how do we know he is talking to us.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd member of the Godhead. You have first God who is our Father and then Jesus who is His son and our brother. Both have a body of flesh and blood. Then you have the Holy Spirit who is a spirit and does not have a body so that we can feel Him in our hearts and minds.

What are the Holy Spirits roles?

In John 14:16-17 & 26-27 we find out that the spirits roles are to:

  • Comfort

  • Testify of truth

  • Teach

  • and bring things to our remembrance

  • I'd also like to add that the Spirit can also give us warnings

As we listen to the Spirit, He can do all of these things to help us personally AND also help us as parents with our children just like my story about the Spirit warning me about my kids safety.

How Do We Hear The Spirit?

Galations 5:22-23 tells us all of the the fruits of the spirit, aka all good things come from God.

When I learned that all good things come from God, I stopped asking if every prompting came from God or not and started to act on everything good that came on my mind and heart. It really is that simple.

As you act on the good feelings and ideas you have then God sends the Holy Spirit to speak to you more and more.

Turn And Teach

As you practice hearing and acting what God tells you to do through His Spirit, you need to turn around and then teach your children how to hear the spirit and follow God.

The closer we come to Christ's second coming, the more we will need the Spirit in our lives. We will need more comfort, more direction, more discernment, more teachings etc.
